5-step guide to start outsourcing & grow your business

Can't handle another client? When you first start your business you can't wait for the day when you can officially say that you're fully booked. It seems like such a dreamy situation, right? People love working with you, the word about your services is spreading and you're really doing what you love. But then another inquiry comes in.

Someone else wants to work with you and they are the definition of a 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵. But you don't have enough time for them. You are already working a bit too much and you know that you really can't take on more work. It's time to start delegating, baby! But where to start? How do you know which tasks to outsource? Don't worry, I got you!

Here are the exact 5 steps I took when I first started hiring help from my business!

1| For 1 week, track everything that you do

Write down all the tasks and how long it takes you to complete them (even if it's just 5 minutes - if you do that every day, that's about 2 hours a month)

2| At the end of the week go through the list & mark the tasks that are fairly simple, easy to learn & don’t require your attention

For example, one of the things that I do for my management clients is daily engagement on the platform - this is something anyone can do and it's really not necessary for me to be spending my time on this

3 | Go through the list again & mark the tasks that you don’t enjoy doing

If you want to be creating Instagram Reels but hate editing them, write that down

4 | Start looking for help

Create an IG post, share your #jobopp in a FB group, ask some friends for recommendations, maybe research a VA or two. Write down what you expect from them, how much work you want to delegate & if you're planning to hand over more tasks in the future

5 | When you do find someone, give them 1-2 tasks at first to see how they do

See if you two click. See how competent the person is. Do they learn things fairly quickly or do they need a lot of hand-holding? Are they reliable? Are they proactive?

BONUS | Create video tutorials

Walk them through the task step by step. Screenrecord yourself doing it while explaining every little decision and process - no matter how simple or obvious it may seem to you. They are not used to it yet, it's a new thing for them, so make sure to cover everything. This way they will have a resource they can always refer back to when they have a question or don't remember something & won't have to message you for help every time!

Following these exact steps helped me find not 1, but 2 people to help me out in my business! This says a lot given the fact that I’ve never done anything like this before and that hiring help seemed like a mountain I will never be able to climb. So test these out yourself, or share this blog with a friend that you know will find these tips helpful!
